Trollhagen 5

A Modern European Chalet in the Heart of Historic Breckenridge

Today, the property remains one of the most distinctive and recognizable buildings in town. Its Alpine-inspired architecture reflects the European mountain traditions that influenced the early American ski industry, featuring charming details such as custom-cut shutters and railings adorned with iconic Christmas tree motifs. Because of its significance in Breckenridge's evolution, the building was included in the Town of Breckenridge Historic District Inventory and documented as part of the National Register of Historic Places nomination process.

When we acquired Trollhagen 5, we saw an opportunity to honor that heritage while reimagining the interior for modern mountain living.

Rather than following the typical rustic Colorado aesthetic, the renovation embraced the building's European roots. The result is a sophisticated, modern chalet that balances warmth, simplicity, and comfort. Clean lines, natural textures, carefully curated furnishings, and thoughtful details create an atmosphere that feels equally at home in the Alps as it does in the Colorado Rockies.

The design celebrates what makes Breckenridge special: mornings spent exploring mountain trails, afternoons wandering historic Main Street, and evenings gathered with family and friends after a day outdoors. Every element was chosen to create a space that feels elevated yet approachable, refined yet welcoming.

Location remains one of Trollhagen's greatest assets. Situated just one block from Main Street, guests can walk to Breckenridge's renowned restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, and boutiques. Carter Park is just around the corner, while the Peak 9 base area is a short stroll away, making it easy to enjoy both the town and the mountain without relying on a vehicle.

Today, Trollhagen 5 offers something increasingly rare in Breckenridge: an authentic connection to the town's early ski culture paired with the comforts and design sensibilities of a modern European mountain retreat.

Built in the 1960’s this building is quite iconic. It’s chalet style exterior and massive views of Peak 8, this property gives you the best of what Breck can offer: Walkability to downtown restaurants and bars, walkablity to the lifts, easy access to the gondola via the bus system, right outside the doo
